Common Questions
Answers to frequently asked questions about self-hosted email
Is self-hosted email reliable?
Yes! With proper setup, self-hosted email is highly reliable. We configure everything for maximum deliverability, including proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. Most clients report 99.9%+ uptime and excellent deliverability.
Will my emails go to spam?
Not if properly configured. We set up all the necessary authentication records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) to ensure your emails arrive in the inbox. We also help establish your server reputation and provide best practices for maintaining good deliverability.
How much storage do I get?
Your storage is limited only by your server size. Most setups start with 50-100GB, which is plenty for most users. Unlike Google or Microsoft, you don't pay per user, so you can add as many email accounts as you need without increasing costs.
Can I use my existing email client?
Absolutely! Your self-hosted email works with any standard email client, including Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, and mobile apps. We'll provide all the necessary connection details.
What happens if my server goes down?
Email servers are designed to handle temporary outages. If your server goes down, incoming emails will queue on the sending servers and be delivered once your server is back online (typically up to 48 hours). For critical email, we can set up backup MX records or a high-availability configuration.
